I’m at the Kennedy Space Center today and tomorrow for the STS-134 NASA Tweetup. If you dig on the space stuff, watch my Twitter feed leading up to the final launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor scheduled for tomorrow at 3:47 PM Florida time.

How cool is that!?
And to think I was at rollout in Palmdale in the 70s. I watched the drive of the shuttle from Palmdale to Edwards, and the subsequent fitting to the 747 to test for airworthiness before the it got shipped to Florida.

From someone who has lived in Houston most of his life and who has many friends and family who work at the Johnson Space Center, hope you enjoy it! This is one of those events that I always hoped to attend one day. I've got some NASA connections but they couldn't even get me in.
Not getting to see a shuttle launch + Houston not getting one of the retired shuttles = sigh.......

So for many years I've worked together with a guy named Andy Kopra. Last fall he mentioned to me he was going to go visit his brother the astronaut. I said your brother the WHAT? He said "the Astronaut". Turns out Andy's brother is Tim Kopra, NASA Astronaut. And boy was I annoyed that Andy has NEVER MENTIONED THIS TO ME.
Unfortunately, Andy was going to go see the launch of Tim's shuttle, but it was delayed and delayed and delayed... until Tim had the unfortunate (lack of) luck to crash his bike, breaking his hip. He was supposed to go onto one of the last shuttles... but now he was replaced, and the shuttle was launched... without him. A pity indeed (but hey, he already been to space, and even spent 3 months on the space station, so it's not like it's the end of the universe for him).
Still, I can't really get over me knowing Andy for all these years and he not mentioning his brother is a freaking ASTRONAUT? To me, the Nasa nerd? *sigh* :/

I bet you enjoyed the Saturn V rocket warehouse with all the stages separated. I have no idea why there are still people that don't believe the Moon landing happened. If they still have doubts of the enormity and the incredible task accomplished they should have them stroll alongside that rocket for some closure.
Hope you get to see the launch, historic moment. Sad to see the Shuttle retire.

aw man i wish i could watch that. i saw a rocket launch at kennedy when i was a kid and it was amazing. would love to have caught a shuttle launch.

I didn't get a chance to talk with you much (I was the guy shooting timelapse when the storm rolled in), but am glad you got a chance to go, too...I've been a reader here for a while now (and a customer as well), and was psyched to see you were in the selection pool.
