Take Highland

Convert, Preview

Highland, the screenplay conversion app from John August and company, is out of beta and available on the Mac App Store for $9.99 until the end of the month, $19.99 after that.

Highland convertes screenplays back and forth among Final Draft’s FDX format, Fountain, and PDF. Not just to PDF, but also from—if you have a PDF screenplay, Highland can “melt” it into an editable file.

That, lemme tell ya, is super handy.

Highland also allows you to edit the raw text of Fountain files, and preview the results in industry-standard screenplay formatting.

Highland joins an ever growing list of Fountain apps that now includes Scrivener too. It’s a party!

And it’s just getting started…

Stu,
Thanks for the heads up. I purchased the app today just to get the deal and 20 minutes layer got a call for a small revision. The only copy of the script I had on my laptop was a PDF. 5 minutes later I had imported the pdf, copied the pages needed for the change, made the changes, and sent off a fdx file for approval.

Amazingly simple app for doing this kind of thing. I'll have to play more when I'm off this deadline....

I'm excited about Highland, but wish it were compatible with previous versions of Mac OS. I've stayed on version 10.6.8 for compatibility issues with my editing system, which means Highland is out of reach.

Hi Douglas,

That is frustrating. Unfortunately, I know from experience that Apple makes it nearly impossible for developers to support older OS versions with Mac App Store apps.
